Sandra Douglas works as an abstract painter. Her studio is located in Exeter, New Hampshire.
As Head of the Visual Arts Department she taught at Pingree School in South Hamilton, Massachusetts from 1978 until 1986, when she left to develop her own work and to conduct private workshops.
She is a graduate of Wellesley College where she received a degree in History of Art. After college she studied watercolor with Don Stone in Rockport and drawing with George Demetrios in Gloucester, as well as painting, printmaking and design at Montserrat College of Art in Beverly, Massachusetts. As an abstract painter she was trained by Paul Scott and Sam Feinstein (both of these painters worked with Hans Hofmann).
